My Story
Born and raised in beautiful upstate New York, I grew to appreciate the greens of springtime after the long, cold, and snowy harsh winters. The daughter of a master gardener, I was schooled from an early age about all things green. When I traveled to Virginia one spring and realized how much earlier the beautiful spring greens arrived, I found the perfect escape from New York… college!
Virginia is a beautiful place to live. I met my husband in college, and we raised our four children in Fairfax County in a great community full of faith, extended family, and friends. However, there was one thing that was missing and that was space. During covid I started growing dahlias I had been given from a dear friend in a rented plot. Soon I was seed starting in soil blocks under grow lights and my itch for growing flowers began. In the spring of 2022, we moved out to scenic Fauquier County VA and found the wide-open space we needed to grow rows and rows of amazing flowers.
From seed to bloom there is magic. Each flower has her own needs and characteristics; no two varieties are the same. They are all special, like the children we have grown and launched into the world. I enjoy every step in the growing process but sharing them with others is my favorite and most rewarding aspect of growing flowers. It’s funny how flowers can take us back to a memory of a special place, treasured loved one, memorable event or warm feeling. Flowers comfort us, heal us, and brighten our day. No words are needed to appreciate them. The beautiful scent, vibrant and muted hues, and varying textures all speak without words. What a treat it is to be with nature out in the garden every day.
